CONSOLIDATED.

This fella's done a snazzy little moving graphic to illustrate the consolidation of natural foods manufacturers by ever larger conglomerates, including some people whose names you already recognize and don't trust, like the more evil than evil straight out of Michael Clayton CARGILL.

Thots:

1. How does this happen?

For which I hold no answer, but am curious about one

b. What is all this leading to?

I think this part is pretty clear. Fewer and fewer people control more and more of the world's resources, including its arable land and food distribution services. Extrapolate: dystopian world! Tank Girl! This is what I'm thinking.

I mean food is so basic. We can't NOT eat it, like we can't NOT breathe air (okay breatharians only need one, supposedly, but they live in Australia and there is no proof!)

Multi-nationals have already replaced the nation-states (who replaced the nations) as the primary player on the global stage. What will happen when they have finally consolidated power in just a few, if not one, major agri-business, b/c they certainly don't see anything wrong with that. Just another day on the free market! Or maybe there will be two, like we have Democrats and Republicans, and they can pretend to be different while remaining fundamentally identical. Because then CHOICE will still exist! Ok I'm raving but you know where this is going.

Honestly i'm a little tired of the black background, its a lil played out but by the time i changed my mind i will wish i had gone black b4 just cuz it saves energy and we all know THE INTERNET IS A BIG WASTE IN GENERAL just of time and money and oh yeah, energy. So do me and you and all of us a big favor and get outside more. Use it for what it's worth, get it focused. Food is one part of the triangle. >shelter>and love but some people think thats variable. I think you do have to have love tho I'm not sure what that is, I think its something like life so it's not something you can or should try to own or keep, but you have to use it right??!! So anyway black backgrounds do save energy, our preference for the "clean" look of white is all cultural, its true!!!
